Video: Driver flees at 100+ mph, strikes cruisers during pursuit

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. — A high-speed pursuit that began with a stop sign violation and crossed the state line into Illinois ended with the driver in custody, FOX 6 reported.

The incident occurred on June 28 after officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, according to the report. Pleasant Prairie Police said the driver fled, striking multiple squad vehicles and reaching speeds over 100 mph during the pursuit.

In a statement posted to social media, the department said, “Illinois isn’t an escape route – it’s just more road.”

Officers from several law enforcement agencies attempted to disable the vehicle using tire deflation devices, which eventually helped bring the pursuit to an end. The driver surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect is facing multiple felony charges, including fleeing police, five counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, hit-and-run, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating while intoxicated. Authorities also issued several citations.

Agencies assisting in the pursuit included the Wisconsin State Patrol, Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Zion Police Department and Zion Fire-Rescue Department.
