As the suspect struggled with officers, they instructed him multiple times to stop reaching; two shots can be heard on video, followed by others as officers returned fire

CHICAGO — The Civilian Office of Police Accountability released body-camera footage showing the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man by a Chicago police officer during a foot pursuit and altercation, FOX 32 reported.

The May 29 shooting occurred after tactical officers attempted to stop a man in an alley. He fled into a backyard, where officers pursued and attempted to detain him.

Footage released on July 8 shows a struggle between the man and officers on the ground. Officers repeatedly instructed the man to “stop reaching.” During the altercation, the man’s firearm discharged, striking an officer in the leg. Another officer then fired at the man, who was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital and later pronounced dead.

The injured officer was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Police said a firearm was recovered at the scene.
