After a high-speed pursuit, the suspect reached a dead end road; the Bexar County deputy stopped his cruiser and got out before the suspect doubled back toward him
SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office released body camera footage from a deputy-involved shooting of a man who drove toward an officer who was on foot, FOX San Antonio reported.
According to the sheriff’s office, the June 21 incident began when an officer initiated a traffic stop after an automated license plate reader identified a stolen BMW convertible. The driver fled from deputies, leading them on a short high-speed pursuit that ended in a residential area.
Officials said the pursuit concluded at a dead end where the suspect allegedly drove the vehicle toward the deputy as the deputy approached on foot. The deputy then fired his weapon, striking the suspect multiple times.
The suspect sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from a local hospital later that evening. He was then booked into the Bexar County Jail on multiple felony charges. A female passenger also suffered minor injuries resulting from the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
