Leatherman’s Raptor Rescue starts with emergency shears. They’re able to cut through just about any material, from fabric to belts to even soft metals. One blade of the shears is razor sharp, and the other has micro serrations, giving you the best of both worlds when it comes to cutting implements.

The handles are large enough to be easily used and manipulated while wearing gloves, which is important when you’re dealing with accident recovery and similar situations.

The onboard strap cutter works great for seatbelts. Plus, it poses little to no risk of injury to the person being rescued. The carbide glass breaker will also assist with fast extrication from a vehicle. A ring cutter allows you to snip off jewelry before swelling becomes a serious concern.

There is also an oxygen tank wrench and a 5cm ruler included in the mix.

Make no mistake. This isn’t some sort of gimmicky nonsense. This is professional-grade gear that is designed and built for high-pressure situations where failure isn’t an option. The tool is well-made and intended for the long haul.

The Raptor Rescue is American-made, built at their shop in Oregon. It comes with the Leatherman 25-year warranty.

Leatherman has designed the Raptor Rescue with emergency personnel in mind. They’ve allowed for a couple of different carry options, depending on how you like to configure your gear.

There is a replaceable pocket clip, which is used to attach the tool to your pocket or to a belt loop.

Alternatively, the Raptor Rescue comes with a hard-side holster made from black, injection-molded polymer. It’s been specifically designed for the standard first responder utility belt, or it can be attached to your gear via MOLLE. The Raptor Rescue can be stowed in an open or closed position. In either configuration, it locks into place within the holster, so you can even carry it upside-down for quick access on a vest.

The Raptor Rescue weighs 5.8 ounces. While it isn’t a brick by any means, there is a bit of noticeable heft with the tool, so it might take you some experimentation to find just the right spot for carrying it. Once you do, though, you’ll never want to be without it.
