Nocpix MATE Ultra: 1280 Thermal Clip-On — SHOT Show 2026

The Nocpix MATE Ultra is a 1280 thermal clip-on with an integrated laser rangefinder and onboard ballistic calculator. Nocpix quietly teased the MATE Ultra at SHOT Show 2026, giving attendees an early look at a product that remains months away from release.

The company has not announced pricing or a firm launch date. Even so, the feature set signals a serious push into the high-end clip-on thermal market.

At the center of the MATE Ultra is a 1280×1024 thermal sensor running at a 60Hz refresh rate. That resolution places it at the top tier of civilian clip-on thermals currently available.

Nocpix lists thermal sensitivity at ≤15 mK, allowing the unit to resolve fine detail in low-contrast conditions. A 60mm f/1.0 germanium lens supports the sensor and helps maintain clarity across the image.

The field of view measures approximately 14.7 by 11.7 degrees. That is wide for a clip-on thermal. At 100 yards, users can expect roughly 25 yards of horizontal coverage. This wider view helps with scanning, tracking moving targets, and maintaining situational awareness in open terrain.

The MATE Ultra includes a built-in 1,200-meter laser rangefinder. Nocpix pairs the LRF with an onboard ballistic calculator. Shooters input rifle and ammunition data directly into the unit. After ranging a target, the system generates a holdover point that aligns with the reticle of the daytime optic.

This setup removes the need for dialing turrets or manually calculating holds. The aiming solution updates in real time. For hunters and night shooters, that means fewer steps and faster shot execution.

Nocpix offers two mounting configurations for the MATE Ultra. One uses a Rusan-style objective bell mount designed for traditional 56mm-class scopes.

The second option mounts to a forward rail, which should improve repeatability and return-to-zero performance. I have used systems that clip to the end of a rifle scope and they seemingly always wobble around. Having a solid and direct Picatinny mount is a reliable move. 

Zeroing follows a collimation-style process. Nocpix said that aligning the thermal’s reticle to the day optics aligned immediately with no additional adjustment. However, finer adjustments can be made if needed. With quality mounting components, users should expect consistent alignment between sessions.

The MATE Ultra runs on a standard 18650 battery, keeping power user-replaceable and widely available. The display uses a 2560×2560 resolution panel to fully support the high-resolution sensor output.

Nocpix positions the MATE Ultra as a premium thermal clip-on, but details on pricing and availability remain unannounced. For now, it stands as one of the more ambitious thermal designs shown at SHOT Show 2026.
