A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper veered off the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire while they were responding to a vehicle crash
SAN JACINTO COUNTY, Texas — A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was killed in a crash near the San Jacinto River Bridge, KHOU reported.
The fatal incident occurred while the trooper was reportedly responding to a vehicle crash. Montgomery County Judge
Mark Keough said the trooper’s patrol car veered off the roadway, struck a tree, and then caught fire, resulting in the trooper’s death.
The identity of the fallen trooper has not yet been released, and authorities have not provided further details about what may have led to the crash.
The loss has sparked an outpouring of grief from across the law enforcement community. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shared his condolences on social media.
“Our thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences are with the Trooper’s family, friends, and every member of the @TxDPS family as they face this devastating loss,” Gonzalez said
