N.J. police aid in rescue of children who jumped out of window to escape fire

KEANSBURG, N.J. — Three children were rescued from a house fire Friday after jumping from a second-floor window in Keansburg, according to police and news reports.

The fire began just after 10 a.m. at a home on Seeley Avenue , authorities said.

Two police officers who arrived before firefighters told the children jump out of the second-floor window, witnesses told ABC -7.

One officer suffered an arm injury after attempting to catch the children who were jumping from the second floor, according to the news station.

A woman was also rescued from inside the home and flown by helicopter to the hospital, ABC -7 reported. The status of her condition is unclear.

The New Jersey Red Cross said its members responded to the scene to help the family.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
