The 30-year-old officer was heading in the direction of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge on the BQE when he struck by a box truck near the Atlantic Ave. exit in Cobble Hill around 8:50 a.m., police sources said. He was thrown onto the asphalt by the impact.

His motorcycle kept on going, hit a wall and burst into flames, video posted to social media shows.

The driver of the box truck never stopped, witnesses told police.

Medics rushed officer to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn but he could not be saved. The officer’s name was not immediately released.

The victim, who was wearing a helmet, was on his way to work when the crash occurred, according to police sources.
