DALLAS — Dallas police officers can now incorporate a classic symbol of Texas culture into their uniforms: the cowboy hat, WFAA reported.
The Dallas Police Department announced the change this week on social media, sharing photos of its Love Field Airport Unit wearing the newly approved headgear.
“Something new is landing at the Dallas Police Department,” the department wrote in a Facebook post. “Our officers are now approved to wear cowboy hats on duty!”
While the department confirmed the addition, it did not clarify whether the option is available to all officers or limited to specific units, according to the report.
Officials have not yet released further details about guidelines or uniform policy changes related to the hats.
