Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Brashears died following an early-morning crash involving horses on the roadway

STONE COUNTY, Miss. — A Jackson County sheriff’s deputy has died after his patrol vehicle collided with a horse on Highway 15, Dark Horse Press reported.
Deputy Joshua Brashears was driving home from his shift when the crash occurred shortly before 6 a.m., about one mile into neighboring Stone County, according to the report.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, which is leading the investigation, multiple horses were in the roadway at the time of the collision. Further details about the circumstances remain under review.
Brashears’ death is being mourned across the law enforcement community. Additional information will be released as the investigation develops.
