DALLAS — At least one active shooter opened fire at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas, killing two detainees and injuring another before turning the gun on himself, FOX 4 reported.

Authorities described the shooter as a male sniper armed with a rifle. He reportedly positioned himself on a rooftop on Sept. 24, though it remains unclear whether it was atop the ICE facility or a nearby structure.
As federal agents closed in, the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to FOX 4.

Police have not yet released the identity of the shooter or the names of the victims. It is unclear what the motive may have been or how the shooter gained rooftop access. Authorities have not confirmed whether the incident is related to recent threats or protests targeting ICE.
Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem confirmed the incident in a statement on X, writing that “ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop.” She urged the public to pray for the victims and their families.”
The shooting follows a bomb threat at the same ICE facility in late August. On Aug. 25, a 36-year-old man was arrested after allegedly arriving at the Dallas Field Office claiming to have a bomb in his backpack and a “detonator” on his wrist, according to the report. That threat led to a full shelter-in-place and response by a bomb squad.
In an unrelated case, six women were recently arraigned on federal charges for their roles in the shooting of an Alvarado police officer during an incident tied to ICE operations.
Federal and local agencies, including the FBI and the Federal Protective Service, are involved in the investigation. Officials have not confirmed whether the shooter had any connection to previous threats or suspects.
