Big moves are happening in the gun industry this week. Sturm, Ruger & Company just announced it’s buying up the assets of Anderson Manufacturing, the Kentucky-based firearms and accessories maker known for its affordable AR-15 platforms and parts.

Ruger isn’t messing around with this purchase. It’s picking up Anderson’s manufacturing facility, machinery, and skilled workforce – all aimed at ramping up Ruger’s own production and expanding product offerings.

“This acquisition is an incredible opportunity to advance our long-term strategy and expand Ruger’s capacity,” said Ruger President and CEO Todd Seyfert in a press release obtained by GunsAmerica.

He added that bringing Anderson’s “talented team” on board will strengthen Ruger’s position as an industry leader, especially at a time when other companies are pulling back.

But with the acquisition comes the end of an era. Anderson Manufacturing posted a farewell statement on its website, saying:

“After careful consideration, we made the difficult decision to sell the company and close this chapter of our story. With the sale now complete, the Anderson brand has been discontinued and Anderson products will no longer be offered. As a result, warranty services on Anderson firearms, parts, and accessories are no longer available.”

The company thanked its customers for nearly 70 years of support, calling it “truly an honor to serve you.”

Anderson’s facility, based in Hebron, Kentucky, offered decades of expertise in both firearms production and aftermarket parts – a sweet addition to Ruger’s already wide-ranging catalog.

Ruger plans to integrate the facility and team into its broader operations to launch new products, expand existing lines, and grow its accessories business. Customers can expect Ruger’s usual high standards of quality, reliability, and American-made manufacturing.

As Seyfert summed up, Ruger is doubling down: “This move reinforces Ruger’s position as a leader in the industry and reiterates my focus on continued growth, even as others scale back.”
