Stossel: How Some ‘Conservatives’ Now Trash Freedom and Praise Karl Marx

The kicker?

Prestigious academic journals eagerly accepted it. The hoax exposed how deeply the Left’s ideological blinders had corrupted higher education.

But now, Lindsay says there’s a new problem—and it’s coming from the other side.

In a recent interview with John Stossel (see video above), Lindsay warned that the same toxic traits he once found on the radical Left—groupthink, victimhood narratives, historical revisionism, and ideological purity tests—are now showing up on the far Right.

To prove it, he ran a second hoax. This time, he submitted a slightly reworded chunk of The Communist Manifesto to a right-wing magazine. The editors published it and even praised its postmodern insights. When called out, they didn’t retract it—they doubled down.

That, says Lindsay, is the problem. Some in the so-called “New Right” are abandoning classical conservative values like free speech, individual liberty, and capitalism.

Instead, they’ve embraced nationalism, censorship, and religious authoritarianism—ironically becoming the exact caricature the woke Left has always accused conservatives of being.

Stossel’s segment pointed out that this new “woke Right” mirrors the old woke Left in disturbing ways: cancel culture, mob justice, online bullying, even open antisemitism. The fringe has become the face, and it’s giving the Left a lifeline.

Lindsay warned that if this trend continues, it won’t just be bad for conservatism—it’ll usher the Left back into power with a vengeance. And this time, they’ll point to the extremes on the Right as all the justification they need to clamp down on speech, religion, and gun rights.

For gun owners, libertarians, and anyone who believes in real freedom, the message is simple: don’t get comfortable, and don’t trade liberty for tribalism. The fight against authoritarianism doesn’t wear just one jersey.
