A break-in turned into a brutal reminder of why the Second Amendment matters—especially in Monroe County, Alabama.
Early Monday morning in the Eureka Landing community, a homeowner was forced to defend themselves after someone broke into their home wielding an ax.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the homeowner shot the suspect, who was later found behind the home and taken to a hospital.
Sheriff Boatwright confirmed with Fox 10 News that the homeowner is not expected to face charges and praised their decisive action.
“We commend the quick response of our deputies and the homeowner’s decision to defend themselves and their loved ones,” he said.
“Our investigation is ongoing, and we will release additional information as it becomes available,” he added.
Indeed, while the investigation is still ongoing, what is clear is this: when seconds count, armed citizens remain their own first line of defense.
