Cory Booker: Another Anti-Gun Hypocrite Exposed

For someone who’s built a career pushing gun control, Sen. Cory Booker sure travels with armed backup.

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) is calling out the New Jersey Democrat after one of his staffers was arrested Monday for carrying a firearm into the U.S. Capitol without a license.

Sen. Cory Booker’s “special assistant” was arrested for carrying a firearm into the U.S. Capitol.

According to reports, 59-year-old Kevin A. Batts — a retired Newark police detective and now a “special assistant” to Booker — was taken into custody by Capitol Police after informing officers he was carrying a pistol.

Batts reportedly accompanies Booker to events, raising serious questions: if average citizens don’t need to carry firearms for protection (according to Booker), why does the senator?

“Cory Booker has never met a gun control law he didn’t like,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “He has supported all kinds of gun-grabbing proposals, the stricter the better. Yet, it is now revealed that Mr. Batts, described as a ‘special assistant’ to Booker, often accompanies him to events. Being a retired police officer makes him just another private citizen, with no special privileges.”

“The fact he apparently goes with Booker, presumably armed, to various events in New Jersey is ample evidence the senator thinks it’s okay for him to have armed security, while he has labored to keep every average citizen disarmed, and vulnerable to violent crime,” he added.

Gottlieb didn’t mince words, comparing the incident to a 1986 arrest of Senator Ted Kennedy’s bodyguard for unlawfully carrying firearms in a Senate building. That bodyguard, like Batts, was also a former law enforcement officer.

The kicker? Batts is from New Jersey — one of the hardest states in the country for law-abiding citizens to get a carry permit. It’s a clear example of the political double standard. Elites get armed protection, while everyday Americans are left defenseless by the same laws these politicians push.

“Booker appears to be cut from the same cloth. Presuming his safety is more important than that of the single mom or the working dad going from one job to another to pay their bills and keep their families safe,” Gottlieb added.

CCRKBA’s message is simple: If it’s good enough for Cory, it should be good enough for every responsible American.

The Second Amendment isn’t a perk of political office — it’s a right of the people.

What do you think — is this just another case of “rules for thee, but not for me”?

Should politicians like Cory Booker be held to the same standards they push on the rest of us? Or, is armed security only acceptable when it protects those in power?
