CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas —Texas authorities arrested a 21-year-old suspect after uncovering an alleged plot to carry out a “mass casualty attack” against police officers in Corpus Christi, KOMO reported.

The suspect was taken into custody on a warrant for terroristic threats following an FBI investigation, according to the report. The suspect was allegedly planning an attack similar to the 2016 ambush in Dallas, where five police officers were killed and nine others were injured.

The Corpus Christi Police Department credited the FBI and other agencies for their cooperation in preventing the potential attack.

“The Corpus Christi Police Department greatly appreciates the assistance of our local, state and federal partners in helping to keep our community safe,” the department stated. “Their support is vital to helping us accomplish our mission to reduce crime, the fear of crime, and enhance public safety.”
