The SG Pulse’s anti-cant digital level eliminates horizontal drift by ensuring your rifle is perfectly aligned. Unlike traditional bubble levels, the electronic system provides immediate feedback via bright LEDs, which are visible in your peripheral vision, allowing you to stay focused on the target. However, in my mind, this is mostly geared towards PRS shooters and works great in those conditions.

One super cool feature is the ability to program in the app what is an acceptable angle deviation. Users can change this from +/- 1 degree to whatever they prefer. Where speed matters, having something like a 1-degree tolerance zone may make more sense than a +/- 0.2-degree tolerance setting setup for bench rest shooting.

Stability Mode eliminates the guesswork in timing your shot by detecting even the smallest vibrations and translating them into clear MOA stability indicators: red blinking for high wobble (not ideal for shooting), yellow for moderate stability, and green for optimal stability—indicating the perfect moment to pull the trigger. This feature integrates seamlessly with the Drills app, enabling users to analyze muzzle path and stability data after a session to refine their technique.

While I find this mode less practical than Level Mode, as I can visually track my reticle’s wobble on target, it’s helpful to see this data integrated into training or match footage.

The SG Pulse includes a barrel angle indicator for calculating cosine factors on uphill or downhill shots. This feature, accessible via the Drills app, is valuable for long-range shooters needing precise elevation adjustments. While most modern rangefinders already take this into account for delivering ballistic information, I see this as a potential backup if your rangefinder goes down.

Zeroing your rifle is also simplified with the SG Pulse. By memorizing the rifle’s position, the device ensures more accurate leveling compared to traditional methods. This mode also supports custom calibration for irregular mounting surfaces. Utilizing this feature allows for quickly mounting a scope and verifying it is level with the rifle.

The Drills app amplifies the SG Pulse’s capabilities. Its features include real-time data monitoring on smartphones or smartwatches, customizable presets, training videos with overlaid data, and performance tracking with cloud-based data storage.

With the app, you can easily switch between modes, adjust sensitivity thresholds, and even record video with real-time performance metrics. However, the most important data (level or stability) is also always displayed on the device itself.

When recording video using the Drills app, the exact level, stability, and barrel angle are all captured.

Machined from aluminum, the SG Pulse is robust yet lightweight. Its compact design ensures it takes up minimal rail space. However, shooters should note that the device requires at least a 0.30-inch gap under the scope to fit properly, limiting compatibility with some low-mount setups.

The SG Pulse has mounting options available for both Picatinny and MLOK rail systems. It is easy to swap between them or reverse the orientation of the level for both left and right-handed setups.

The single-button interface is straightforward. Switching between modes is quick, and LED indicators provide clear status updates. Also, by incorporating Bluetooth, users can update the SG Pulse as new features may roll out down the road.

During daylight shooting, the SG Pulse excels. The LED indicators are bright and easy to read, making it a fast and reliable reference for rifle alignment. At night, the LEDs’ brightness can hinder some applications, particularly when hunting coyotes. While this may not be an issue for less observant game like wild pigs, the back glow could be distracting. Despite this limitation, the SG Pulse’s advanced features and app integration offer unparalleled utility for both casual and competitive shooters.

The SG Pulse is a cutting-edge tool for precision shooting enthusiasts. While I would like to see dimmer LED settings utilized, its suite of features—including anti-cant leveling, stability analysis, cosine indication, and app connectivity—make it a standout choice. The programable LED is faster to verify level and allows me to confirm with my peripheral vision rather than taking my eyes off of the target.

At a starting price of $149.99, it offers a competitive value for those looking to enhance their shooting precision and speed. Whether you’re honing skills on the range or lining up the perfect shot in the field, the SG Pulse delivers the data and feedback needed for those perfect long-range shots.
