Beretta USA has temporarily halted production of its popular 1301 Tactical shotgun with 7+1 capacity, effective November 4, 2024.
The pause comes as the company navigates new interpretations from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) that are affecting the importation of key components for assembly in the U.S.
The ATF’s unexpected decision has thrown a wrench into Beretta’s operations, specifically regarding components essential to producing the 1301 Tactical 7+1.
Beretta USA is actively working with the ATF to clarify the issue and ensure compliance while aiming to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
For now, existing inventory of the 1301 Tactical 7+1 is still available at dealers nationwide. If this shotgun is on your Christmas wish list, now may be the time to snatch one up.
In the meantime, Beretta has introduced a new solution: the Beretta 1301 Tactical C. This 5+1 configuration maintains the reliability and performance that the 1301 Tactical line is known for.

Whether for self-defense, sport shooting, or professional use, the Tactical C aims to meet the demands of American gun owners during this regulatory hiccup.
Despite the production pause, the 1301 Tactical remains a top performer in its class. It was recently crowned 2024 Industry Choice Awards (ICA) Shotgun of the Year for the second year running, cementing its reputation as a reliable choice for both consumers and professionals.
Beretta USA has assured its customers and partners that it’s committed to resolving this matter with the ATF. Updates will be provided as they become available, and the company remains dedicated to ensuring access to its trusted firearms.
For now, the focus shifts to the 1301 Tactical C and the remaining stock of the 1301 Tactical 7+1. Beretta’s message to its loyal customers: thank you for your patience and support as they work through this challenge.
While the pause in production is disappointing, it’s another reminder of the ongoing challenges the firearms industry faces with regulatory hurdles.
This is a time for gun owners to remain informed, engaged, and supportive of companies navigating these obstacles to continue delivering the firearms we rely on.
