I’m sure you are familiar with Tenicor, as they make some of the best quality and best-designed CCW equipment on the market. I have been using some of their stuff since before they went public and know the guys behind the curtain, so I may be a bit biased since I like them so much.
Not since the heyday of leather have you been able to buy a belt, holster, and mag pouch from the same company. At least, not without buying a third-party item that the holster maker is simply selling. Tenicor designs and makes their stuff (yes, some of it is outsourced but it is theirs), and it is as good or better than anything out there.
Having said that, I have not always preferred their Velo line of holsters. They have a built-in “body contour”, meant to replace the various wedges that we all use with other holsters. If they fit your body, awesome, but they do not fit mine, so I have always used their other holsters that lack the body contour feature. With the introduction of the Velo 5, they have altered the body contour in some way so that it now fits me very well. I have been using a Velo 5 for a G19 and a G17 for a few weeks now and it is really excellent.
In addition to the altered body contour, they have spaced the belt clips a little further apart, making the holster more stable and for me, more concealable. It still has the adjustable camming wedge but they have also improved how the clips attach to the holster body, making it easier and faster to assemble as well as adjust.
In truth, I could use a drop more wedge effect from the body contour, but even stock it is a huge improvement and one I have been happy with. You can’t build a holster that will fit everyone, but the Velo 5 comes close to perfect for me. The one “issue” is that it is not yet available for guns with lights. I’m told it will be soon.
Aside from their holsters, they make my favorite mag pouch, replacing my old TLG spec’d mag pouches from Custom Carry Concepts. It took a bit of doing, but the Tenicor mag pouches are a genuine improvement in retention and ease of use, being adjustable for various magazines, belt sizes, and thicknesses. They also make a 5.56 mag pouch that works the same way and it is simply excellent if you need to conceal a rifle mag on you.
Finally their belts. A little different and at first I found them frustrating. Once I learned how to use them correctly, I have not used anything else for quite some time. The single-ply is perfect for a lightweight pistol and mag pouch but I prefer the double-ply for heavier guns and more equipment.
I’m not sure when the Velo 5 will be on the website, but I imagine it will be pretty soon.
