Vice President Kamala Harris’s stance on the Second Amendment is under fire, particularly due to her past support of strict gun laws in San Francisco.
As a district attorney, Harris co-sponsored legislation that would have made the city one of the toughest places in the nation to own a firearm.
The law, which would have required most residents to surrender their handguns, was eventually overturned by the courts.
Second Amendment advocate Colion Noir highlighted her anti-gun history in a recent interview on Fox News, stating that Harris has long opposed gun ownership, even fighting the landmark Heller decision, which affirmed an individual’s right to own firearms.
Recently, Harris said it’s a “false choice” to suggest that being pro-Second Amendment means opposing gun safety measures.
Noir countered by stating that this is a common tactic used by politicians. He argued that anti-gun advocates push for incremental restrictions, which eventually lead to broader bans.
According to Noir, Harris’s current focus on AR-15s is just another step toward the larger goal of restricting gun ownership, pointing to her past support of handgun bans.
California has already implemented restrictions on magazine sizes and ammunition purchases, further eroding gun rights, Noir argued.
He also pointed out that many African Americans are now arming themselves due to rising crime, but warned against being swayed by Harris’s recent statements, calling her “the worst” when it comes to Second Amendment issues.
In summary, Harris’s long-standing opposition to gun rights continues to fuel debate, with pro-2A advocates like Noir urging gun owners to stay vigilant.
