The FM-15 line is chambered in 223 Wylde. Because they’re chambered in 223 Wylde, shooters can run them with either 5.56 NATO or 223 Remington, and the results are typically more accurate than with other chamberings. These are direct impingement which is preferred by many gun owners for accuracy. Currently available barrel lengths include 16-inch carbines and a 12.5-inch pistol. Barrels are made from 41v50 steel, which contains vanadium and is known for superior durability, strength, and stability at high temperatures. A black nitride finish protects the barrels from wear and promotes corrosion resistance.
One of the upgrades to the second-generation FM-15 guns is a new lug on the bottom of the gas key which is designed to prevent failures. According to the company, their firearms haven’t had any gas key failures, but they added the lug to further strengthen the existing design.
Also new from the company is an FM-15 that is compatible with 5.56 AK magazines from AC Unity. Those guns feature an AK 102 lower and come in all currently offered FM-15 barrel lengths. It’s a great option for fans of direct impingement who also want some AK features, only on an AR platform rifle.
