Shadow Systems’ New DR920L and CR920P Pistols — SHOT Show 2023 By: Riley Baxter
The DR920L (shown above) is one of two new pistols from Shadow Systems for 2023.

There are many pistols that are patterned after the tried and true Glock design, but some are of higher quality than others.

Shadow Systems makes top-tier products and they’ve added two new offerings this year that debuted at SHOT Show.

These new pistols are the DR920L and the CR920P, both are striker-fired and can be compared in size to the Glock 34 and Glock 48 respectively. They also use fit-in holsters designed for these Glock pistol models.

DR920L

The DR920L is a long-slide 9mm that, as mentioned, is comparable in size to a Glock 34. This pistol features a 7.25″ slide and a 5.3 barrel. The long sight radius and hefty slide squeeze every bit of accuracy out of the platform while keeping the gun flat-shooting and fast.

This model currently comes only with a black frame/slide but you can choose the color of the barrel. You have the choice between black, or the bronze barrel shown here in the pictures.

The DR920L has a 5.3″ barrel and a long sight radius for improved precision.

The flared magwell is plastic and held on by a single roll-pin. The plastic flare is advantageous because it is a cheap point of failure that can easily be replaced if you were to catch it in the car door, or on some other obstacle while carrying it.

Instead of compromising the whole grip, it was designed to bust and save the rest of the gun from harm in this scenario. The same roll-pin that holds on the magwell also secures the backstrap that comes in high, medium, or low sizes.

The trigger is Shadow Systems’ own and breaks at a clean 4.5-5 lbs with a short reset. While shooting it, you will be aiming with the tritium front sight made by Night Fision, and the blacked-out, serrated rear sight.

The tritium Night Fision front optic stands out in all lighting conditions.

CR920P

The CR920P is another Shadow Systems elite product offering. It has many similarities in features to the DR920L, but comes with a unique barrel and compensator.

This cam-locking compensator is currently only available for purchase with this gun but It does not utilize any muzzle threads and is legal for use in states that don’t allow threaded muzzles.

Simply depress a detent, slide the compensator on, twist it, and latch the compensator in place. This design locks up extremely tight and is one of the most simple and effective designs that I’ve seen as an alternative to muzzle threads.

The barrels on the CR920P are also available in bronze or black and just like its bigger brother, MSRP will be near $1,100.00.

The CR920P is a Glock 48-size compensated handgun from Shadow Systems with a unique compensator.

The CR920P is similar in size to a Glock 48 and will fit in Glock 48 holsters with its compensator attached.

There are currently no specs released as they may tweak the design before it ships. Shadow Systems expects to be able to ship the CR920P in the second quarter of this year.

The CR920P comes with the same Night Fision tritium front sight as the DR920L.
