JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Newly released bodycam footage provides a closer look into a pursuit that caused multiple crashes involving two police cruisers.
First Coast News reported the incident began when Jacksonville (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office drug enforcement detectives observed a white Ford F-150 occupied by two men wearing full face masks. Officers later found out the vehicle, which was driving erratically, was stolen. A pursuit ensued after other measures to stop the vehicle were unsuccessful.
During the pursuit, video shows an officer attempting to catch the suspects before crashing into a second patrol car – causing both vehicles to careen in different directions. One cruiser hit a fence and the other struck a civilian’s SUV head-on.
Footage then shows the officer pulling the injured driver out of her vehicle. The woman was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The officers were not injured, according to First Coast News.
The pickup truck eventually crashed into a pole and two suspects were arrested, although their identities have not yet been released. Police recovered a firearm from inside the vehicle.
