GREENVILLE, Miss. — Greenville police officer Myiesha Stewart was fatally shot following a police pursuit on Tuesday night, reports WTVA.

The incident began after a man shot his girlfriend and fled in a vehicle, prompting Greenville officers, along with Washington County sheriff’s deputies, to pursue him.

The pursuit ended with multiple people wounded in the shooting, along with Stewart, Mayor Errick Simmons said in a statement.

Stewart was shot multiple times according to reports. The suspect is being treated at a hospital, and he’s in custody.
