At the beginning of this year Volquartsen released the 22 LR ENV critter gitter. But the company wasn’t ready to stop there. Looking to step up the energy and firepower, Volquartsen releases the ENV-HMR in .17 HMR rimfire. Whether you are small game hunting, eradicating varmints, or target shooting, the ENV-HMR is worth the look.

While the 22 LR ENV is built on the ODIN Chassis System from ENOCH, the ENV-HMR builds out from the DEEP SIX Chassis System—ODIN’s bigger brother. As a result, the ENV-HMR gains an additional 2.5-inches in length and a wider barrel chamber.

Although it is slightly heavier than its predecessor, the Type 3 Hard-Anodized receiver remains a lightweight 4 pounds 5 ounces. Additionally, a single QD sling attachment is found on either side of the chassis for use with single-point slings.

The integral 0 MOA Picatinny rail running along the top of the receiver allows for the attachment of accessories and optics. Likewise, M-Lok slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions of the handguard provide further optic and accessory compatibility. On the underside of the handguard is an included Slate Stop hand stop for additional control.

Rounds are delivered on target via the TG2000 trigger group, CNC-machined from an aluminum billet. The trigger group also allows user adjustments for pretravel and overtravel, allowing users to dial it in to their personal preference. The 9-inch lightweight barrel comes threaded ½ x 28 for the addition of a suppressor or compensator.

The ENV-HMR is available with or without an SB Tactical arm brace. Likewise, it ships with the Magpul MOE-K grip installed. However, for those that like to customize their experience, the ENV-HMR incorporates all the current AR-15 attachment standards.

“Following the success of the 22 LR ENV it was time to step it up a notch. The ENV-HMR does exactly that – more energy, more firepower. The ENV-HMR offers 17 HMR ballistics in the same compact ENV configuration. It’s as versatile in the field as it is fun on the range.” commented product development specialist Kolby Pavlock.
