LOS ANGELES — Two Los Angeles police officers experienced a call unlike any other: a woman having a baby outside a gas station – and they worked together to deliver the child.
In body camera footage, the scene is captured after a radio call came in asking for assistance, according to ABC7. The woman was in labor near an ice machine on the sidewalk. And although medical assistance was dispatched, the officers were there to help the woman through the delivery.
“It happened so fast,” Officer Juan Sierra said. “Knowing that I was able to contribute in bringing a life to this world – I mean that alone is incomparable.”
The woman delivered the baby, but the child didn’t cry right away. However, he can be heard crying after a few minutes. They were both taken to a nearby hospital and were reported to be in good condition.
