WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. — Oregon deputies and state police officers may have secured the title for “strangest pursuit ever” over the weekend.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Oregon State Police officers followed a suspect wanted for his arrest on foot, but it wasn’t your typical foot pursuit. Instead, officers walked behind the suspect who was eluding them in an excavator, reported.

The suspect, who was wanted for stealing a car, had three warrants for his arrest. The man drove the excavator for over half a mile before surrendering to the officers’ commands.

He was arrested for attempting to elude police, along with theft charges and a state parole board violation.
