MEC 9000GN Review

Like I mentioned above, if you’re serious about reloading ammunition, then you need a progressive reloading press. The MEC 9000GN is one of the best on the market, and it’s perfect for high-volume reloaders. It features a 12-gauge turret head that can be swapped out for other calibers, and it has an auto-indexing feature that makes reloading faster and easier. The MEC 9000GN also comes with a primer catcher, powder measure, and shot shell plate, so you have everything you need to get started.

The MEC 9000GN will only work with shotgun shells and won’t load handgun (pistol or revolver) or rifle rounds like some other progressive machines. If you’re looking for a reloading press that can accomodate something other than 12 gauge, be sure to check out our Best Progressive Reloading Press article for some more solutions and can reload more than just 12 gauge ammo.

The MEC9000 can be used to reload 12, 16, 20, 28, and 410 bore shells.

In a simple overview of the operation of this progressive press and the reloading sequence, after inserting your hull into the shot carrier, in station 1 it’ll de-prime and resize the shell hull and in that motion it’ll drop a new primer into station 2, so now we have a primer station. In station 2 it’ll re-prime the and charge the shell with powder. Station 3 you’ll put the wad into the shell and the press will seat the wad and drop the shot. Now everything is in the shell, it just needs to be closed up. Station 4 is the starter crimp, station 5 is the crimp with depth and the final crimping is done in station with the tapered crimp.

A cool feature of this press is at the final reloading stage we have the finished shell ejection. The loaded shell is automatically ejected into your shell carrier.

If you are looking to produce and reload ammunition more quickly, progressive reloading equipment is a good option. However, it is more expensive and complicated than other types of reloading equipment, so it may not be suitable for everyone.

Progressive presses are great for speed and high volume. They’re not as great on upfront cost nor simplicity especially comparing them to the single stage reloading presses.

With its high-speed operation and easy-to-use features, the MEC reloader is the perfect choice for anyone who wants to make sure they’re getting the most out of their reloading.

This reloading station can knock out around 450 shells per hour, so whether you’re needing to reload for hunting or target shooting, then in my opinion the MEC 9000GN is worth the investment for something that’s reliable and has a great price point.
